Press release issued by Gloucester County
On Wednesday, June 13, the Gloucester County Juvenile Probation Department and Robin’s Nest held a ceremony congratulating the nine graduates of the Cognitive Skills Program.
The Cognitive Skills program is a 15-week that provides youth ages 13 to 18 that are currently on Gloucester County Juvenile Probation with weekly group sessions that focus on life skills training and leadership and trust building.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “Many of the youth in juvenile probation come from situations or home lives that are not stable. The Cognitive Skills program gives them a place to talk about their situation while learning leadership and trust building skills to help them further themselves positively in the future.”
Freeholder Jim Jefferson, Liaison to the Youth Services Commission, said, “This program provides a safe and supportive environment for the youth to talk and learn about real life situations in an interactive way. I am grateful for all of those who participate in helping show our youth a new path, and for the youth who are open to making a big change in their life.”
The ceremony, which took place in the Honorable George H. Gangloff’s courtroom, 203 on the 2nd floor of the Gloucester County Justice Complex, was hosted by Juvenile Probation Supervisor Terry Miles and included opening statements by Judge Gangloff as well as Freeholder Jim Jefferson addressing the graduates.
