The National Weather Service has issued the advisory with the heat index expected to top 100 degree this afternoon.
Monroe Township residents are advised to stay cool today, as the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the entire region. The advisory will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. on Monday.
Temperatures are expected to top out between 90 and 95 degrees today, with heat indices reaching as high as 102 degrees due to high humidity. The highest heat indices will occur during the mid to late afternoon hours.
Heat illness is possible, especially among at-risk people who cannot stay cool. The heat and humidity could cause heat stress during outdoor activities or extended exposure.
Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Outdoor activities should be done during the early morning or evening. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
