June is ‘National Adopt A Shelter Cat Month’ — cats over six-years-old are free all month

Adopt a cat at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) during National Adopt A Shelter Cat Month and fees will be waived for cats six years or older. Get pre-approved for your pet adoption and visit the GCAS during the month of June.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “The shelter is filled with cats of all ages during the summer and we encourage all residents to think of our shelter first when deciding to adopt their forever friend.”

Freeholder Dan Christy, liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter said, “The shelter is offering several promotions during national Adopt A Shelter Cat month. During the month of June, adoption fees are waived for those cats over the age of six.”

“Our shelter staff is extremely helpful and will assist you in finding the right animal for your home,”Freeholder Christy said.

In addition to the June specials, the GCAS offers adopt one shelter cat get the second one free, and Veterans and senior citizens enjoy $35 adoption fees throughout the year.

As of today, the shelter has 20 cats available for adoption. The cats can be visited at the shelter.

Adoption hours at the shelter are Monday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday noon to 7 p.m. Saturdays are open from noon to 4 p.m. for looking at the animals available for adoptions.

*Beginning July 2, adoption hours will change to Tuesday through Thursday noon to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday Noon to 4 p.m. The Shelter will not be open on Mondays for adoptions.
