Weekly Roundup: Curtain Call presents ‘Newsies’, Mt. Laurel Schools present summer learning

Curtain Call Performing Arts Center to debut production of ‘Newsies’ on June 28

Curtain Call Performing Arts Center’s production of “Newsies” debuts on June 28 at 7 p.m. at Harrington Middle School, with repeat performances on June 29 at 7 p.m. and June 30 at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets will be available before performances at the door for $12, but those who order online in advance can pay just $10.

Mt. Laurel FOP Lodge to host 5K run and one-mile dog walk to support Mt. Laurel Police K-9 program

On Monday, Sept. 3, Mt. Laurel FOP Lodge 191 is set to host its inaugural 5K run and one mile dog walk to raise funds to support the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department’s K-9 program. According to the FOP, proceeds from this event will help with feeding, veterinary care, training and equipment expenses for Gunner and Nina — the department’s two K-9s.

Students can still enroll in summer learning opportunities through Mt. Laurel Schools

School might soon be out for Mt. Laurel’s elementary and middle school students, but that doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy several fun and educational opportunities this summer through Mt. Laurel Schools Community Education Department. For this summer, the district has announced a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics camp, one-week courses in robotics or computer coding or even playing at the South Jersey Spartans Basketball Academy.

Annual Kiki Open Scholarship Golf Tournament fundraiser returns July 24

The Konstantinos Scholarship Foundation has announced the 26th Annual Kiki Open Scholarship Tournament, set to take place on July 24 at the Medford Lakes Country Club. The yearly golf tournament raises money to fund scholarships for students across the district in memory of former, longtime superintendent Kereazis “Kiki” Konstantinos, who served as superintendent for the district for three decades, from 1963 through 1993.

Newspaper Media Group acquires the Hudson Reporter newspaper chain

Hudson Reporter Publishers Lucha Malato and David Unger have announced the sale of their company, Hudson Reporter Assoc. LP, to the Newspaper Media Group (NMG) of Cherry Hill. NMG is the publisher of more than 50 weekly, community newspapers in Southern and Central New Jersey, as well as in the Greater Philadelphia market. In addition, NMG also publishes a monthly B to B newspaper on Staten Island.
