The Seattle Mariners selected Gambino, a pitcher from Paul VI, late Wednesday afternoon.
Paul VI High School pitcher and Haddonfield native Will Gambino has been selected in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft. Gambino was taken in the 35th round of the draft by the Seattle Mariners. He was the 1,048th pick in the draft.
Gambino, a University of Kentucky commit, emerged as a solid pitcher with a fastball reaching 94 miles per hour over the last two seasons with Paul VI. Pitching in 74 innings in his junior and senior seasons, Gambino struck out 85 hitters and allowed just three home runs. In 2018, hitters batted just .210 when facing Gambino.
