On May 31, Robert E Schwalenberg of West Deptford, formerly of Haddonfield passed away.

On May 31, Robert E Schwalenberg of West Deptford, formerly of Haddonfield passed away. He is the loving husband and high school sweetheart of the late Judith (nee Garman); devoted father of Stefan Schwalenberg of Chicago; Susan Hodges (Luke) of Haddonfield and Karen L. Flagg (Edward ‘Ted”) of NYC; Cherished Grandfather of Emma & Paige Hodges and James & Robert “Bobby” Flagg; Dear Companion of Anna Maria Del Reigo.

Robert graduated from Juniata College where he was an All-American athlete. He started his career at Lafayette College where he was a football and baseball coach, receiving his masters degree from Lehigh University. He then coached football at Columbia University, and spent the remainder of his career at Camden County College, where he was a Dean, athletic director, as well as the golf coach.

Mr. Schwalenberg’s family will receive friends on Monday June 4, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 204 Wayne Ave Haddonfield, where his service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations benefiting Robert may be made to either the American Diabetes Assoc. or the American Cancer Society through: In Memory Of (www.inmemoryof-memorial.org) or by mailing checks payable to “In Memory Of” with Robert’s name on the memo line to PO Box 5472, Charlottesville, VA 22905.

Arrangements are by Kain-Murphy Funeral Services.
