Mt. Laurel Police arrest several individuals during recent DWI checkpoint along Route 73

The following information is on file with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department:

The Mt. Laurel Township Police Department recently conducted a DWI checkpoint along Route 73 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on June 1.

During that time, police report the following incidents:

  • Patrols conducted an investigation due to the odor of marijuana from inside a vehicle, which led to the arrest of a 35-year-old female from Philadelphia. She was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a summons pending a future court date.
  • Patrols conducted another investigation due to the odor of marijuana from inside a vehicle, which led to the arrest of an 18-year-old female from Delanco and two 18-year-old females from Delran. All three were charged with possession of marijuana and released on a summons pending a future court date
  • Patrols also conducted an investigation due to the driver of a vehicle exhibiting signs of impairment. The investigation led to the arrest of a 45-year-old female from Maple Shade for DWI. She was processed and charged with DWI and other motor vehicle violations. She was released to a friend pending a future court date.

The following additional reports are also on file with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department:

On June 4 at 10:21 a.m., patrols responded to UHaul at 3022 Route 38 for the report of a stolen catalytic converter. Store employees reported that a truck was rented on June 3 and the customer noted that the truck was loud. On June 4, the truck was serviced at which time it was discovered that the catalytic converter was missing.

On June 4 at 10:01 a.m., a victim came into police headquarters to report that an unknown person stole a license plate from his motorcycle while parked on the 200 block of Hope Court.

On June 3 at 12:50 a.m., patrols responded to the area of the 100 block of Camber Lane for the report of a one-vehicle crash. When patrols arrived, they located the crashed vehicle, which was overturned. The 23-year-old-male driver from Mt. Laurel was located and exhibited signs of intoxication. He was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI and other motor vehicle violations. He was released to a family member pending a future court date.

On June 1 at 3:24 p.m., patrols responded to the 700 block of Courtney Way for the report of a criminal mischief. The victim reported that she observed a 15-year-old male puncture the tires of her vehicle while parked in the parking lot. Patrols arrived and spoke to the juvenile and his mother who agreed to purchase new tires.

On June 1 at 2:51 p.m., patrols responded to a motel on the 1100 block of Route 73 for the report of an unconscious male. Patrols, Mt. Laurel EMS and paramedics arrived and found a 53-year-old male from Rhinebeck, N.Y. unresponsive from an apparent heroin overdose. Narcan was administered and the male regained consciousness. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

On June 1 at 9:42 a.m., patrols responded to a residence on the 600 block of Walton Avenue for the report of a vehicle theft. The resident reported that she arrived home at approximately 12:40 a.m. and parked her vehicle in her driveway. At 9:30 a.m. she woke up and realized that her vehicle had been stolen. Her mailbox was also damaged. The vehicle was located abandoned on June 2 in Philadelphia with no wheels.

On May 31 at 12:37 p.m. patrols responded to a residence on the 5100 block of Church Road for the report of a package theft. The victim/resident reported that on May 26 at 1:30 p.m., a package was delivered to her residence and left on the porch. When she got home, the package was gone and a note was left, stating that the individual needed dog food for his dog.

On May 30 at 10:37 p.m., patrols conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fellowship Road in the area of Route 73 for motor vehicle violations. During the investigation, it was determined that a 38-year-old female passenger had multiple warrants for her arrest. She was subsequently arrested at which time it was determined that she had in her possession, hypodermic syringes and a glass-smoking pipe. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes. She was remanded to the Burlington County Jail pending a future court date.
