RVSC enters 61st season
Press release issued by Raccoon Valley Swim Club:
Raccoon Valley Swim Club (RVSC) in Mullica Hill kicked off its 61st season this month. Founded in 1957, Raccoon Valley Swim Club is tucked away just a block off Main Street on Church and Eric Roads and overlooks the valley carved by Raccoon Creek.
The club features three pools, a covered pavilion, upper deck, playground and BBQ area and a fun family atmosphere. On Memorial Day weekend the club unveiled exciting new updates including freshly repainted buildings, new landscaping, high dive and more. RVSC’s swim and dive teams, open to all kids from beginner to age 18, are also gearing up for the season and will host Suburban League Championships this year. Raccoon Valley is a private club owned and operated but always open to additions and have new membership packages available for the 2018 season.
The buildings have been freshly painted, new windows installed and extensive landscaping completed to push back some of the surrounding wooded areas. RVSC is one of the only swim clubs in the area with both a low dive and high dive. A new gaga ball pit is being added to the playground area in addition to the basketball court, tetherball swings for “out of the water” fun.
Raccoon Valley is the founding member of the Suburban Swim Association. Competitive swimming teaches the value of hard work, patience, persistence and teamwork. All of the Raccoon Valley meets are “A” meets where each swimmer has the opportunity to swim in at least two races.
RVSC introduced a new Swim Team Only membership package for 2018 designed for kids who primarily want to join for the swim team. It’s designed as a more cost effective alternative so that kids can still enjoy competing on the swim and dive teams even if the family has their own backyard pool and may not take advantage of a full swim club membership. Both private and group lessons are available throughout the summer.
The lifeguards are ready to get to work too as RVSC continues its decades long tradition of offering part time employment for local teens and young adults. And since safety is always a top priority, the club is thrilled to have received a special donation of an automated external defibrillator (AED) from the Heroes Foundation. The Heroes Foundation will dedicate the AED in a ceremony this summer.
