Obituary: Harry Valentin

Valentin was a Sept. 11 first responder and patient at PowerBack Voorhees. He was a 30-year veteran of the New York Police Department and retired as a First Grade Detective. As 911 first responder, Valentin was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme because of his exposure to the toxins at Ground Zero. Last week, services were held in his honor.

GT Board of education considers new security measures.

The new protocols suggested by Superintendent Bilodeau include strobe lights and vestibules throughout all 11 schools, as he says there have been continuing school security committee meetings brainstorming ideas over the past few months, which started after February’s Parkland shooting.

This week, Gloucester Township kicked of GTWheels Sustainable Bike Library.

The new GTWheels Sustainable Bike Library programs allows residents ride borrowed bikes. In order to obtain a bicycle from the bike library, Gloucester Township residents will simply fill out an on-line membership form, visit the distribution center with identification and proof of residency, sign two documents, including a liability waiver and a policy and procedures form, and then pick out a bike that best suits them.

Volunteer Center of South Jersey like “Match.com for volunteers.”

The Volunteer Center in Gloucester County serves seven counties, including Camden County. The organization’s digital platform, Get Connected, makes it easier to find volunteer opportunities around the region.
