Superintendent discusses Cherry Hill East’s decision on prom ticket at BOE meeting

A lot of discussion took place last week around a decision made at Cherry Hill High School East. The school’s principal, Dennis Perry, issued an apology after he said several members of the school community found the phrase “party like it’s 1776” on the school’s senior prom ticket to be offensive. Superintendent Joe Meloche talked about the school’s decision at last week’s Cherry Hill Board of Education meeting.

What makes Cherry Hill East Robotics Team’s gears turn?

Cherry Hill High School East’s robotics team has been highly successful since its founding in 2009. The club has had at least one team make it to the world championship in each year of existence, even though the club does not have an engineer on staff or the financial and technical support of other teams. Members of the club talked about how they are so successful in an interview with The Sun last week.

99-year-old teacher and reverend reflects on life and newfound love of painting

A former Cherry Hill Board of Education member and teacher has found a new love of painting at the age of 99. Don Fletcher lived for a number of years in Cherry Hill Township and was a vital part of the school community. Now, a resident at Lions Gate in Voorhees, Fletcher is dabbling in painting and has some of his artwork on display at Voorhees Town Center.

May Athlete of the Month: Kelsey Clauss goes on scoring spree for Cherry Hill West girls lacrosse

Cherry Hill High School West girls lacrosse continued to move up the standings in 2018 with another winning season. One of the key players behind the Lions’ success was junior Kelsey Clauss. Clauss led the team with 60 goals in 2018 and was particularly potent in the season’s final month. In Cherry Hill West’s final seven games, Clauss scored 28 goals and had two games with seven goals.

Cherry Hill West baseball advances forward in the South Jersey Group III playoffs

Cherry Hill High School West baseball has made some noise in the first two rounds of the South Jersey Group III playoffs. In their opening game last Monday, the Lions shut out Toms River South at home, 1–0. Cherry Hill West then hit the road in round two and upset №4 seed Highland Regional High School, 13–2. The Lions will next play Timber Creek Regional High School in the sectional semifinals on Tuesday.
