Gloucester County Freeholder Frank J. DiMarco and Freeholder Jim Jefferson joined two new county homeowners Rosa Pineiro and Tiaera Ratliff who were welcomed into their new homes on Tanyard Road yesterday, May 22.
Rosa Pineiro is a veteran and single mother who served for four years in the Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal E-4 in Afghanistan. She was honorably discharged in 2012 and has a four-year-old son named Elijah.
Tiaera Ratliff works in Thorofare and is attending Rowan University to pursue her bachelors in Elementary Education. She has a four-year-old son named Ethan.
Habitat home recipients go through a rigorous financial education program and must invest sweat equity into the building of their homes. Of the 42 homes built since 2001 with GC Habitat for Humanity, the County has funded 35 utilizing its HOME funding. To date, GC Habitat for Humanity has been awarded over $2 million in HOME funds and has utilized nearly half million in Community Housing Development Organization proceeds (mortgage loan repayments that the county allows Habitat to reinvest in its construction efforts). The County is about to award an additional $135,000 for two more homes in Glassboro Summer 2018.
