Weekly Roundup: Council inserts grants into budget, GTPD announces junior police academy

GTPD announces seventh annual junior police academy this week.

Juveniles will be considered cadets and will be given a uniform to wear every day. The program includes physical training, lectures, presentations, hands-on activities and a field trip. The academy will take place over the course of three sessions depending upon age groups. Registration for residents begins May 29.

At its latest meeting, Council inserted three grants into its new municipal budget. The funds specifically satisfy public safety and recreational needs. Also at the meeting, Chief Earle announces decrease in township’s crime since 2010.
