GTPD announces seventh annual junior police academy

Registration for residents begins May 29.

The following report is from the Gloucester Township Police Department:

The GTPD is proud to participate in our seventh year of the Gloucester Township Police Junior Police Academy. The juveniles will be considered cadets and will be given a uniform to wear every day. The junior police academy consists of physical training, lectures, presentations, hands-on activities and a field trip. The junior police academy culminates with a graduation for each class. The junior cadets will learn how to march and work together as squads. Cadets will learn the importance of being physically fit, staying drug free, teamwork and respect.

Registration for residents begins May 29 at 8 a.m. at the Gloucester Township Recreations Center. Non-residents can register beginning June 6 at the recreation center, located at 80 Broadacres Drive, Gloucester Township, NJ 08021.

Ages 10 to 14:

Dates: July 16 to 20

Times: 8:30 a.m. to 3

Daily Location: Gloucester Township Police Department

Resident cost: $125, non-resident cost: $150.00

Ages 11 to 15:

July 23 to 27-

Times: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Daily Location: Gloucester Township Police Department
Resident Cost: $125, non-resident Cost: $150

Advanced Junior Police Academy (Ages 11 to 16):

Dates: July 30 to August 4 or Aug 6 to 10

Times: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Daily Location: Gloucester Township Police Department
Resident Cost: $125, non-resident Cost: $150
