Jeffrey Holman goes above and beyond for HMHS students

Seldom does Haddonfield Memorial High School counselor Jeffrey Holman talk about himself, it’s always about the students. “I think I am naturally more of a listener than a talker,” Holman said. “I always enjoy more hearing other people talk than hearing myself talk.” Underneath his modest demeanor, Holman’s talent to connect with high school students hasn’t gone unnoticed, as he has recently been nominated by the New Jersey School Counselor Association for Counselor of the Year.

Residents express concern at Bancroft meeting

The developer of the Bancroft property answered questions and presented plans at a public meeting last Wednesday in Borough Hall. The developer, 2 Hopkins Lane LLC, and the borough entered into an agreement in January 2016. The developer had already purchased the property and proposed to build a drug and alcohol treatment facility next to the high school, which was a concern for community members. Last Wednesday, the developer was able to discuss plans moving forward and gather resident feedback.

Camden County Animal Shelter creates new initiative

A few hours can make all of the difference in the eyes of a dog. Whether it is one hour or three, the Camden County Animal Shelter is giving both county residents and shelter dogs the opportunity to smile with its new Rent-A-Dog program. Implemented just a few weeks ago, Rent-A-Dog allows Camden County residents who may not be able to own a dog or are interested in adopting one a chance to bond with shelter animals. For the first time ever, people are able to take designated Camden County animal shelter dogs out and walk them or spend time with their new furry friend outside of the shelter environment, enriching the lives of the residents and enhancing the dog’s quality of life.
