Dog potentially scares away thief, heroin overdose reversal and more in Mount Laurel Police Report

The following incidents are on file with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department:

On May 1 at 8:23 p.m., patrols responded to a motel on the 800 block of Route 73 for the report of a disorderly female who assaulted an employee. The victim/employee reported that a female came into the hotel to get a room. The female was reported to be highly intoxicated. When the employee denied renting the female a room, she slapped him in the head and left the scene. The female was identified as a 51-year-old person from Moorestown. The employee declined to sign complaints at this time.

On May 1 at 3:49 p.m., patrols responded to the Target on Centerton Road for the report of a shoplifting. Upon arrival, patrols arrested a 35-year-old male from Maple Shade for shoplifting $59.99 worth of store merchandise. He was processed and charged on a summons with shoplifting. He was released pending a future court date.

On May 1 at 8:52 a.m., patrols responded to a residence on the 200 block of Bellaire Terrace for the report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim/resident reported that sometime overnight an unknown person entered her unlocked vehicle that was parked in front of her residence and stole a phone charger and change.

On May 1 at 12:15 a.m., patrols conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road in the area of Fellowship Road for motor vehicle violations. It was determined that a 62-year-old male from Mt. Laurel was under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested, processed and charged on a summons with DWI and related motor vehicle violations. He was released to a friend pending a future court date.

On April 30 at 9:03 p.m., patrols responded to the Target on Centerton Road for the report of a robbery. The victim/employee reported that they observed a female shoplifting in the store. When loss prevention attempted to detain her, she bit and choked the employee. She then fled the scene in a vehicle. The merchandise was recovered at the scene.

On April 30 at 10:29 a.m., patrols responded to a motel on the 600 block of Fellowship Road for the report of an overdose. Upon arrival, patrols made contact with the 28-year-old male caller from Oaklyn who was conscious but not alert after ingesting cocaine. He was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

On April 30 at 8:21 a.m., patrols responded to a motel on the 500 block of Diemer Drive for the report of an overdose. Upon arrival of patrol and paramedics, they located a 27-year-old male unresponsive due to an overdose on heroin and other narcotics. Patrols administered Narcan and the male regained consciousness. He was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.

On April 29 at 3:01 p.m., patrols responded to Lifetime Fitness on Church Road for a reported theft from a locker. The victim reported that an unknown person stole cash out of his locked locker.

On April 29 at 1:47 p.m., patrols responded to the area of Granite Ave for the report of a suspicious male who was observed in a neighbor’s vehicle. When patrols arrived the male was gone. Nothing reported stolen from the vehicle.

On April 29 at 12:54 a.m., patrols responded to the 100 block of Birchfield Court for the report of a suspicious male attempting to gain entrance to a residence. The resident reported that a male knocked on his door and asked him his name. The male then stated that he was there to collect a debt and challenged the resident to a fight. The male then left the area in a large SUV. All individuals were identified and the caller declined to sign complaints at this time.

On April 28 at 8:01 p.m., patrols responded to a motel on the 1100 block of Route 73 for a noise complaint. A 28-year-old female tenant at the motel was located. She had in her possession multiple hypodermic syringes used for injecting illegal drugs and a crack pipe. She also had crack cocaine in her possession. She was charged on a summons with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic syringes and hindering her own apprehension. She was released to a local hospital for treatment.

On April 28, at 11:55 a.m., patrols responded to the LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle for the report of a theft. The victim/customer reported that he put his wallet in a locker and secured the locker with a combination lock. When he returned to the locker his lock and wallet were gone.

On April 28 at 11:15 a.m., patrols responded to a residence on the 300 block of Hartford Road for the report of an attempted burglary. The victim/resident reported that at approximately 2 a.m., her dog began to bark which was uncommon. She let the dog outside at which time the dog continued to bark towards the rear of the residence. Later in the morning when the sun came up, the victim observed a blue trashcan pushed up against her residence. The can was smashed as if someone was standing on it. She then observed a bathroom window open and the blinds on the floor. It appears that the dog may have scared off a person.

On April 28 at 9:23 a.m., patrols responded to a business on the 200 block of Hartford Road for the report of a past tense shoplifting. The store employee reported that he observed a male remove a chainsaw strap and leave the store without paying for the strap. The male was identified as a 50-year-old male from Burlington.

On April 27 at 1:18 p.m., patrols responded to a residence on the 100 block of Willow Turn for the report of a phone scam. The victim reports that he received a phone call from what he believed to be Apple support in regards to servicing his computer. He provided his credit card number and also was directed to purchase, two $500 Google Play Cards, which he did. He was then advised to provide the Google card information and he would receive a refund. The victim’s computer was hacked, he did not receive a refund for the Google Play cards and he noticed fraudulent charges on his credit card.

On April 25 at 3:33 p.m., patrols responded to the Courtyard Marriot at 1000 Century Parkway for the report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim reported that he parked his vehicle in the parking lot and did not lock the doors. When he returned later in the day several items were missing from the vehicle.
