Maintenance work to start Sunday night on railroad tracks in Palmyra

Project is expected to take about three nights to complete

New Jersey Transit and their contractor Bombardier have told Borough officials that maintenance to the railroad track bed — the ties and ballast — will be performed in Palmyra beginning on or about Sunday, April 29, and continue for about three nights, according to the municipality’s website.

The work must be performed at night and in the early morning hours between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., coinciding with the period that freight trains use the line.

This work was last completed in 2015 and is necessary to maintain the tracks in a state of good repair, according to a post on the Borough’s website.

The contractor is presently working on the tracks in Cinnaminson and will move onto Riverton immediately after completing the work in Palmyra.

The Palmyra Police Department will be distributing additional information.
