John Sullivan talks about the budget.
In the article of March 23, 2018 entitled “BOE Tackles the Preliminary Budget, the Sun reported that: “[Haddonfield] school taxes will be increasing again this year. The local tax levy will increase 1.72 percent over last year’s budget.”
What the Sun’s article did not mention is that Haddonfield residents will also see an additional increase in their school taxes as a result of debt service on school repair and construction bond projects which are currently underway in our district.
As a result of the debt service, the actual increase in our school taxes for the coming year will be closer to 3.5%. This is nearly double the amount cited in the Sun.
A more precise total will invariably be available from the school district as it finalizes its operating budget for the coming year.
