Markeim Arts is hosting the 10th Annual Power of the Flower exhibition opening reception on Friday, May 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This juried exhibition in Markeim’s main gallery will bloom with a kaleidoscope of art inspired by nature. Artists are encouraged to submit new and challenging perspectives of flora, flowers, buds, grasses and blooms interpreted in a variety of media, including paintings, photography, textiles and sculpture.
The juror for the show will be Bridget McCafferty. Bridget earned her BFA in Illustration from the University of the Arts with a concentration in Painting. She is the founder/owner of Typsy Gypsy Tees, an imprinted apparel company specializing in hand drawn, screen printed designs. Her original designs have been featured on the Martha Stewart show as well as the Etsy holiday market in Brooklyn, New York.
Bridget has been teaching traditional drawing and painting methods to students of all ages for over 8 years. She has been teaching art to young children and teenagers at Markiem Art Center for the last year. Her paintings have been displayed in multiple galleries throughout the Philadelphia area.
