WTHS students Leilani Warters, Lauren Crane and Olivia Day finished in third-place out of 62 schools in a children’s story competition.
Members of the Washington Township High School Engineering by Design Club, under the advisement of teacher Simone Wong, turned out strong performances at the New Jersey State Technology Student Association conference hosted at the College of New Jersey on April 14.
Seniors Justin Radano, Leilani Warters, juniors Caitlin O’Brien, Nick Curcio, James Gallicchio, Scott Toreki, Eric Toreki, Jessica Navans, Hetanshu Patel, Niko Figueroa, and freshmen Jillian To, Olivia Day and Lauren Crane attended the conference and competed in on-site components of their competitions.
The WTHS team of Leilani Warters, Lauren Crane and Olivia Day earned a third-place finish out of 62 schools in a children’s story competition where they were required to write, illustrate and build an electronic storybook that included lights and sound.
Students James Gallicchio, Caitlin O’Brien, Nico Figureoa, Hetanshu Patel and Mason Brewster earned a bronze achievement award for their service and leadership during the past year. Juniors Hetanshu Patel and Caitlin O’Brien also earned a silver-level achievement award for their work throughout the year.
The TSA is the only student organization devoted exclusively to the needs of technology education students. Open to students who are enrolled in — or who have completed — technology education courses, TSA is comprised of over 190,000 elementary, middle and high school students in 2,000 schools spanning 48 states.
