Perkins gets ‘handcrafted’ this May

The center’s popular craft beer tasting event returns on Sunday, May 19.

Handcrafted at Perkins Center, the center’s popular craft beer tasting event, returns to Collingswood on Saturday, May 19. Perkins, who has locations in Moorestown and Collingswood, will hold the event from 7 to 10 p.m. at Perkins Center in Collingswood.

The $60 ticket price for Handcrafted covers beer tastings, free food and live music. Guests must be 21 or older to attend. For an additional $20, attendees can also participate in a VIP tasting event with Wine Educator and Sommelier Candace Ryan from 6 to 7 p.m.

Guests will sample hors d’oeuvres from Roots Catering and enjoy a wine versus beer tasting with wine from local vineyards and beer from Tonewood Brewing during the VIP event, which is sponsored by Visit South Jersey. Advance ticket purchase is recommended for the VIP tasting, as space will be limited.

The main tasting event will feature beer samples from local microbreweries, gourmet dishes from Ma’Ma’s Tacos and Mary’s Mobile Diner food trucks, music by The Brian LaPann Trio, a silent auction and the sale of artist-made beer steins.

“We’re very excited to welcome back past attendees and introduce new guests to Handcrafted,” said Karen Chigounis, executive director of Perkins Center for the Arts. “The event has become one of our most popular and offers a fun way to support the Perkins mission and sample beers produced in our area.”

Brew options at Handcrafted will include selections from Tonewood Brewing, Boyland Bottling Company, Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer, Eight & Sand Beer Company, Fermented Food & Beverage Supply Shop, Lower Forge Brewery, Tuckahoe Brewing Company, River Horse Brewing Company and Yards Brewing Company. Other beverage choices include Tito’s Handmade Vodka, tea from Wise Ape Tea Company and a selection of sodas.
