Officer John Flinn was recently suspended for the March incident.
John Flinn, 27, a Gloucester Township Police officer since 2015, has been charged with simple assault on a 13-year-old female. Flinn, along with other officers, was dispatched to investigate a disturbance on March 8.
When they arrived, they encountered the juvenile victim, a 13-year-old female.
The juvenile complied with police instructions and allowed Flinn to handcuff her when he struck her twice on the side of her face causing her to cry out in pain.
