High wind warning issued in Mt. Laurel ahead of arrival of cold front

Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour could topple trees and power lines this afternoon.

It is expected to be a windy day in Mt. Laurel and across South Jersey as the National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the region. The warning will be in effect through 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service is expecting wind gust of up to 60 miles per hour this afternoon. According to the forecast, southwest winds will increase this morning, then quickly shift to the west-northwest as a strong cold front crosses the area in the late morning and early afternoon. A line of showers and thunderstorms will hit the area ahead of the front and could pack wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour.

After the front passes through, wind gusts of 45 to 60 miles per hour will occur through the afternoon before diminishing in the early evening.

Damaging winds could blow down tress and power lines. Residents can expect possible power outages this afternoon. Travel may also be difficult with the wind, especially for high-profile vehicles.
