Rowan College set to hold empowerment workshops this month

Workshops are free and registration is mandatory

The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, health and financial workshops during the month of April. Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. Call 856–415–2222 or email peopleintransition@rcgc.edu to register. You must be 18 years or older to attend.

“Simplify, Organize and Declutter Your Home”

Join Loretta Anthony, Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Student Services, to learn how to embrace the “love it or leave it” method of home organization. She will share life-changing tips on how to declutter your stuff and make your life more organized, serene and peaceful. The workshop will also touch on the basics of Feng Shui, which is said to help you achieve prosperity in your relationships, health and career. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 4.

“Advanced Computers” — — Amy Charlesworth, Case Manager Assistant for People in Transition, will take your computer skills to the next level with her 40-hour workshop covering advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held on 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Fridays, April 6 to May 25

“Declutter Your Life: Time, Mind and Emotional Management”

Jessica Jolly, Associate Professor of Psychology, will show you how to lead a clutter-free life by improving your time management skills, changing unhelpful thought patterns and learning how to effectively communicate your feelings. In this training you will learn to identify the habits and unhelpful thinking patterns that cycle into procrastination, ineffective use of time and poor communication, resulting in stress and anxiety. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 11.

“Grow Your Strengths: Building the Bridge to Your New and Different Life”

In this workshop, Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld, Certified Professional Life Coach, will help you discover and develop your strengths, and learn how to use them to help yourself through life’s many transitions. All participants must take a FREE Strengths Assessment though the VIA Institute at viacharacter.org. Click on the VIA survey, complete it and bring the report with you to the workshop. This workshop is sponsored by United Way of Gloucester County and will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., April 11.

“PowerPoint for Professionals, Businesses and Social Projects”

Join Lauri Kuder, Microsoft Office Master, to learn how to create presentations for work, school, social organizations and even personal use. In this workshop, you will learn how to use PowerPoint to create lively presentations for any event, including business presentations, school projects and community events. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, April 16.
