The freeholders extended a contract with the operator of BurLink, an affordable fixed-route weekday bus system
Burlington County Freeholder Deputy Director Linda Hughes announced today that the Freeholder Board has taken measures to ensure that a county administered, low-cost bus transportation service will continue to be offered to county residents for the coming year.
During its Feb. 28 meeting, the Board authorized a contract extension with the operator of BurLink, a fixed route weekday bus system which primarily serves commuters, rural residents, and residents in economically disadvantaged areas.
“I am so pleased that BurLink will remain an efficient and low-cost option for our residents who are in need of transportation support getting to work, visiting our library, or accessing additional county services,” said Deputy Director Hughes, liaison to the County Department of Human Services. “Tonight’s action continues the Board’s proud tradition of making Burlington County a great and more affordable place to live, work, and retire for all.”
The three-route BurLink bus system connects residents to NJ Transit buses or River Line trains, major places of employment in the Florence Industrial Area, and county government facilities including Human Services, Board of Social Services, Health Department, Library, Court System, and the County Administration Building.
A resident is charged a nominal $2 fare each way to ride any one of the BurLink routes, which include:
B1 — Browns Mills, Pemberton, Mt. Holly, Willingboro, Beverly Light Rail
B2 — Westampton, Willingboro, Beverly Light Rail
B5 — Florence Light Rail, Haines Industrial Park, and adjacent Route 130
“I believe it’s so important that we offer a transportation service to our residents,” added Deputy Director Hughes. “With more than 67,000 passengers utilizing BurLink last year, I encourage even more county residents to take advantage of this great service.”

The contract extension period is from April 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019.
