Cherry Hill man sentenced to prison on robbery charges

James Q. Harris was sentenced to eight years in prison last Friday.

The following information was provided by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.

A Cherry Hill man was sentence to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to a robbery.

James Q. Harris of Cherry Hill was sentenced to eight years in New Jersey state prison after pleading guilty to a robbery of two employees of a Westville deli on Nov. 11, 2016.

Harris pleaded guilty to the robbery charge on Nov. 30, 2017 and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson. Under the New Jersey No Early Release Act, he must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

In the incident, the two victims reported being approached by three males, two of them brandishing handguns. One went through the pockets of one of the victims but obtained nothing before the three fled. Identified as a suspect, Harris was arrested on Feb. 17.

Also apprehended in the incident was Steven A. Cooley of Woodlynne. Charged with robbery, Cooley is presently a fugitive.
