Radix second-graders celebrate 100th day of school
At Radix Elementary School, Mrs. Kalabic and Miss Marlyn’s second-graders celebrated the 100th day of school on Thursday, Feb. 22. To celebrate, Miss Marlyn and her students dressed up to look ‘100 years old’. Additionally, As a fun, collaborative activity, students used 100 cups to build a tower as high as they could go.
EDC talks business openings, tax card
Monroe Township’s Economic Development Commission met last Monday to discuss plans of implementing a tax card in town, making residents more inclined to shop local and live affordably. The EDC’s goals are to keep residents living and shopping in Monroe Township. One way to keep residents shopping locally, according to the EDC, is through the execution of a tax card, which Mayor Daniel Teefy said the town is moving forward with, and will hopefully have in place before June.
Florida shooting, Superintendent’s injury sparks discussion at most recent BOE Meeting
Williamstown residents were vocal about their concerns at the Monroe Township Public Schools Board of Education meeting on Feb. 15. Parents expressed safety concerns in lieu of the recent school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.”Everything with our drills that we do is coordinated with our police department,” board president George Caruso stated. The public also had numerous questions about Superintendent Charles Earling’s absence from the meeting. “I see that there’s questions about Mr. Earling, conspiracy theories about whether he’s really hurt or not,” board Solicitor John Trimble said. “He’s hurt, and for people to come in here and attack him when he’s not here, it kind of saddens me.”
VFW to host film screening of ‘Heroic Episodes’
On Friday, March 16 at 7 p.m., the community of Monroe Township is uniting to support our veterans in a mosaic of community members, veterans and merchants for a film screening of “Heroic Episodes,” a series based on true veterans’ stories. Veterans and community members will come together for this event, which will be held at VFW Post 1616, located at 1940 N. Black Horse Pike in Williamstown. Tickets are $20, and can be purchased at the VFW Post 1616, or on online at www.picatic.com/heroicepisodes.
