World Spay Day

To raise awareness and celebrate World Spay/Neuter Day, Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Dan Christy announced that on Feb. 27 the Gloucester County Animal Shelter will be waiving adoption fees on all cats and dogs.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “The Gloucester County Animal Shelter has always been determined to provide their animals with loving families and get them into good homes by offering prices much less expensive than private providers. In honor of World Spay/Neuter Day, the shelter will be offering cats and dogs to the public for no cost.”
Freeholder Dan Christy, Liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter said, “It is important to raise awareness for spaying and neutering, but it is also important to get our animals into loving homes. World Spay/Neuter day is an opportunity to both highlight our spay and neuter programs and to also raise adoption rates for our animals.”
Applications must be pre-approved by the end of the day on Friday, Feb. 23 in order to be eligible to receive a free cat or dog on Feb. 27.

The regular fee for dogs is $125 and $95 for cats. There is a discounted $35 fee for senior citizens and military veterans. The fees for dogs include Spay/Neuter, Antigen Heartworm test, nasal Bordetella, worming, all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, collar, leash and an identification tag from Gloucester County Animal Shelter. For cats the fee includes Spay/Neuter, Feline Leukemia/AIDS combination test, all age appropriate vaccinations, worming, microchip, disposable cat carrier and an identification tag and collar from Gloucester County Animal Shelter.
If the animal is not Spayed/ Neutered at the time of adoption, an appointment will be made for surgery and the animal will be delivered to the Clinic and the new owner can pick up their pet after surgery has been completed.
