Man faces DWI, resisting arrest by eluding police charges

A driver and passenger fled vehicle on foot, while patrols conducted a credentials check after speeding and failure to maintain lane violations

On Friday, Feb. 9, around 6 p.m., patrols conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white Ford van with two occupants for a speeding and failure to maintain lane violation. The driver stated he did not have his driver’s license on him, and provided a name and date of birth.

While patrols were conducting a credentials check, the driver and an unknown passenger exited the vehicle, and began to flee on foot.

The driver, a 20-year-old, of Newfield, was apprehended by patrols in a wooded area on Hartford Road. A K-9 track of the area was conducted; however, patrols were unable to locate the passenger, who was identified as a 44-year-old from Millville, NJ.

The driver was taken into custody and transported to Medford Township Police Headquarters for processing. He was charged with resisting arrest by eluding police, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane and uninsured motor vehicle. He was transported and lodged in the Burlington County Jail.

Charges for the passenger are pending.
