Williamstown native Ellen Parry Lewis’ newest novel “Smarty Pants: How to Become a Valedictorian” is scheduled to be released on April 15.

Williamstown High School’s Class of 2006 valedictorian Ellen Parry Lewis will release her sixth novel, “Smarty Pants: How to Become a Valedictorian” in April. Local nonprofit Bianca’s Kids adds one more child to the list of wishes granted after surprising 15-year-old Dalton McKernan and his family with a trip to disney after his diagnosis of stage four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Everything ordinary can be made extraordinary in Ellen Parry Lewis’ mind. As a kid, her pencils transformed to rockets and toys came to life in the creative corners of her imagination. Having published her first piece of writing, “Alicia’s Alarm,” in elementary school, the 29-year-old daydreamer now anticipates the release of her sixth novel, “Smarty Pants: How to Become a Valedictorian” in April.

Debbie Savigliano is no stranger to loss, but when her 21-year-old niece Bianca Yodice was struck and killed by a car while walking to work in August 2010, something changed within her. Savigliano said she fell into a deep, dark depression she struggled to climb out of, and it wasn’t until she was given a sign amid her grief that she saw a glimmer of hope — a whisper in her ear that would lead to granting the wishes of more than 20,000 children in need through the creation of her nonprofit Bianca’s Kids.

Free Public Library of Monroe Township to offer free museum passes for card holders

The Free Public Library of Monroe Library is now offering residents the opportunity to sign out museum passes. According to the library’s Facebook page, the museum pass program is part of its mission to provide educational, professional, cultural and recreational information and services. Museums included in the program are the Academy of Natural Sciences, Battleship New Jersey, Garden State Discovery Museum, Grounds for Sculpture, Independence Seaport Museum and the Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center.
