Helping Hands Hoagie Sale successful

I was honored to be a part of the Helping Hands Hoagie Sale this past Sunday, Feb. 4. Joining me at this event was Councilwoman Angela Donato, Council President Joe Perry and my Administrative Assistant Alicia Rotella. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that was provided in order to make this event possible. Thanks to Ron Lucarini, who along with the COW Project and the students of Future Acts, made this event extremely successful. Every year the amount of sales and donations increases and that is thanks to all of those who make it their mission to see this fundraiser succeed so families in Washington Township receive the help they need. I am always proud to see this level of community service and commitment in Washington Township. If you would like to make a difference in others’ lives, please see the COW Project’s website at www.thecowproject.org.

Shop Washington Township Launch Party

I am pleased to announce the Shop Washington Township Launch Party this past Saturday was a great success. I was happy to meet many of the Washington Township residents and business owners. We currently have 28 participating businesses in the Shop Washington Township program and we anticipate adding quite a few more to the list. I would like to thank our sponsor Republic Bank for hosting the Launch Party and contributing to the success of the program. By now, every household in Washington Township should have received a Washington Township calendar in the mail, along with a Shop Washington Township card. There are more cards and calendars available at the Municipal Building if you have not received either of these items. Shop Washington Township cards may also be picked up at the Republic Bank branch on Ganttown Road. If you would like more information regarding the Shop Washington Township Program, please contact my Administrative Assistant Alicia Rotella at (856) 589–0575, or at arotella@twp.washington.nj.us.

Swearing-in a new police lieutenant

I was pleased to swear-in newly promoted Lieutenant Timothy Breen of the Washington Township Police Department. Chief of Police Patrick Gurcsik, along with a large group of his fellow officers and family members were present to honor and celebrate his great accomplishment. Business Administrator Jason Gonter, along with Council President Joe Perry, were also there to congratulate the new lieutenant. I am always happy to be a part of the swearing-in ceremonies, as I know these gentlemen and ladies have worked hard to get where they are now. Whether it is for the police department, fire department or EMS, it is always a pleasure to meet each and every individual that is promoted in his or her department. I congratulate Breen and best wishes in his newly appointed position.

Calendar errors

I would like to address some errors that were brought to my attention regarding the Washington Township calendar. There were a few spelling errors and a holiday that was missed; that holiday is Mother’s Day, which is May 13. This was brought to my attention by one of our residents, who is a mother herself. I wanted to address how important Mother’s Day is and to recognize our mothers on that special day. In the future, we will make sure each and every holiday is highlighted as it should be.
