Gloucester County will be collecting tires March 1 through March 29 at the Gloucester County Solid Waste Complex in South Harrison Township
The Gloucester County Improvement Authority Office of Recycling, in cooperation with the Board of Chosen Freeholders, will be conducting another Tire Amnesty Program in March.
“With the success of last year’s tire collection event, the Gloucester County Improvement Authority Office of Recycling is excited to announce that they will once again be hosting tire drop-off events throughout the month of March to allow residents to get rid of old and used tires,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said.
According to Damminger, discarded tires can fill with water and that can be prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which can carry West Nile and Zika viruses and many other diseases. By providing this program, the county is preventing abandoned tires from harming the environment around its residents.
Residents can bring their tires to the Gloucester County Solid Waste Complex at 493 Monroeville Road (Route 694), in South Harrison Township, March 1 through March 29, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and during an event on Saturday, March 17 from 8 a.m to noon.
Tires may be on or off the rim, but must be separated by type. There is a limit of 25 tires per residence. Nothing more than a passenger pick-up truck tire size will be accepted. This program is for Gloucester County residents only. No commercial businesses will be accepted.
