Driver stopped by Evesham Police allegedly found in possession of drugs and stolen property

Police say the driver was originally stopped by an office due to allegedly reckless driving.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Feb. 4 at 12:45 p.m., an officer patrolling in the Evesham Township Police Department’s Data Driven Approach to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) Zone observed a vehicle allegedly being operated at a high rate of speed while abruptly cutting off several vehicles, almost causing a motor vehicle accident.

Police say the officer stopped the vehicle on Route 73 by Lincoln Drive.

During the officer’s investigation into the vehicle’s alleged reckless driving, the officer determined that the passenger who initially provided the officer with a fictitious name was a wanted person.

Police say the passenger was arrested and a subsequent search resulted in the discovery of illegal pharmaceutical pills, heroin paraphernalia and stolen checks.

Arrested:

A male, age 32, of Mt. Laurel, was charged with three counts of third-degree possession of narcotics, fourth-degree hindering arrest, fourth-degree possession of stolen checks and a disorderly persons offense for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail with no bail.

According to police, DDACTS integrates location-based crime and traffic data to establish effective and efficient methods for deploying law enforcement and other resources. Using geo-mapping to identify areas that have high incidences of crime and crashes, DDACTS uses traffic enforcement strategies that play a dual role in fighting crime and reducing crashes and traffic violations. Drawing on the deterrent of highly visible traffic enforcement and the knowledge that crime often involves the use of motor vehicles, the goal of DDACTS is to reduce the incidence of crime, crashes and traffic violations in Evesham Township.
