Project Learning Tree Workshop for Educators comes to Rancocas Nature Center on March 24

Anyone teaching children about nature can get real hands-on help with a new Project Learning Tree (PLT) Workshop.

Those teaching children about nature can get real hands-on help with a new Project Learning Tree (PLT) Workshop on Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Rancocas Nature Center.

PLT is an environmental education program that provides educators with tools that engage children in learning, both outside and indoors, while increasing environmental awareness.

It’s designed for formal educators, 4-H leaders, scout leaders, home school instructors, parents, and community leaders who work with youth.

This workshop will focus on kindergarten through eighth grade.

Lessons in the PLT Environmental Education Activity Guide will engage students in interdisciplinary, hands-on experiences that develop skills in problem solving, critical thinking, evaluation, literacy, and research.

PLT supports Next Generation Science Standards and is correlated to both national and state standards.

The Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders will provide curriculum guides for this workshop while Jennifer Bulava of Burlington County Parks and Mary Belko of Rancocas Nature Center will facilitate the training.

The workshop is $18 per person and includes a kindergarten through eighth grade curriculum Guide and light breakfast.

Attendees will need to bring their own lunches.

Call (609) 261-2495 to register, email Mary Belko at info@rancocasnaturecenter.orgor register at the Nature Center at 794 Rancocas Road in Westampton.
