District Technology Night scheduled for Feb. 6

District Technology Night showcases the Career and Technology Education Department’s effective uses of technology

The Washington Township public schools’ annual District Technology Night will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Cafeteria C/D of the Washington Township High School. District Technology Night showcases the Career and Technology Education Department’s effective uses of technology to extend students’ practice of critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and communications skills.

Middle school students will apply core content knowledge in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to design solutions to three technology challenges: grade six— structural design challenge (model bridge); grade seven— robotics challenge (sumubot); and grade eight— CO2 dragster challenge.

High school students will exhibit projects and portfolios promoting engineering principles in design technology, construction technology, electronics technology and communications technology. In addition to high school and middle school students, the event will include students’ use of technology in the district’s elementary school computer literacy program.

“District Technology Night is an opportunity to show our community how all of our children are becoming skilled users of technology, and how these important skills are essential for our children to prepare for careers in a highly competitive and highly skilled workforce,” District Supervisor of Career and Technical Education Steve Whalen said. “It is a fun, energetic and fast-moving night.”
