Suspect in motor vehicle theft, burglaries apprehended by Burlington Township Police

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Burlington Township Police Department arrested Princeton resident Jose A. Gonell, 21, and charged him with motor vehicle theft as well as multiple car burglaries in the Sunset Ridge development.

The investigation began on Jan. 25 when Burlington Township officers responded to a report of overnight car burglaries within the Sunset Ridge neighborhood. While investigating those burglaries, the officers discovered a Ford Fusion was stolen from a nearby residence. The officers also discovered evidence indicating that the burglaries and the motor vehicle theft were related.

During the evening hours of Jan. 27, the Pennsauken Police Department located the stolen Ford Fusion with Gonell and stolen goods from the burglaries inside. Gonell was turned over to the custody of the Burlington Township Police Department, after which he was charged with two counts of motor vehicle burglary, three counts of theft and two counts of criminal trespassing. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail pending his first appearance.
