New Albany School collects winter clothing in honor of MLK

In conjunction with the Great Kindness Challenge, NAS held a drive to celebrate the service of Dr. Martin Luther King

John Layden, New Albany School principal, and a few of the many students who brought in donations and inspired others to do the same. They are Hayden, Adriana, Brady, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Lucas, Colin and Giovanni.

The New Albany School winter clothing collection for children and youth began as an act of service in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. Our local clothing mission was in need of children’s slightly used coats, knit hats, gloves, scarves and pajamas.

They also requested new underwear and socks. The collection was originally scheduled to last one week. As NAS received inquiries later in the week about when they were ending the drive, they decided to roll it right into this week’s Great Kindness Challenge.

Parents sent in clothing with their children. Community members, including parents, brought donations to the school. NAS is grateful to all who had a part in making this collection of warm clothing a tremendous success. It was a valuable lesson for the children.
