Local artists urged to participate in Chairville Elementary School’s 11th annual Community Fine Arts Show

The community is encouraged to attend Opening Night on Mar. 14th

Chairville Elementary School will be hosting its 11th annual Community Fine Arts Show this March, and urges artists to participate in the upcoming event. The show is intended to bring local artists’ artwork to Chairville students and provide them with the opportunity to view and discuss these pieces firsthand.

Chairville School Families have continuously shown their support for the event, which has been extremely successful in past years. The event is open to the public, and the community is encouraged to attend Opening Night/Meet the Artists Night on Wednesday, March 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chairville Elementary School. There will be entertainment and refreshments being served.

The show, which runs from Feb. 26 through March 9, will be held at the school building, which houses locked curios to display your art, as well as professional hanging systems.

This is not a juried show and there are no fees involved; however, the school is hoping to display exemplary, professional-quality work that can be used to point out superior technique and artistic elements to the students. Participants must also be at least 18 years of age to submit their work.

If interested in participating, artists can drop off artwork from 3:45 until 6 p.m. on Feb. 23. To maintain a fine arts distinction, the show is limiting artwork to the following: painting, sculpture, art photography, printmaking, graphic design, and fine art collages. Crafts are no longer included in the show. Each artist is limited to six framed and ready pieces, or six, three-dimensional works. Sculptures can be secured in a glass display case in the Media Center.

Chairville also welcomes browse boxes, which will be displayed on March 14 at the Art Opening/Meet the Artists night.

In addition, Chairville is looking for artists interested in doing an on-site demonstration during the Art Opening/Meet the Artists Night, to an audience mainly consisting of families with young children.

For more information on the show or how to get involved, contact Chairville Elementary School art teacher and chairperson Brenda McCue at bmccue@medford.k12.nj.us, or call (609 ) 654–9610.
