Mayor’s Message — EMS, veterans and local businesses

Mayor Joann Gattinelli updates the community on events, service and economic development

Washington Township EMS swears in new lieutenant

On Thursday, Jan. 11, I was honored to swear in the newly promoted Washington Township Ambulance & Rescue Association Lieutenant William Weiss. Also present to witness and celebrate Weiss’s great achievement was Business Administrator Jason Gonter, Weiss’s family, Chief Jim Connor and his fellow EMS colleagues. I am always thrilled to be a part of these ceremonies as I get to interact with the EMS staff on a more personal level. The work they do on a daily basis is life-changing and I appreciate all they do for our community. I thank them for the fine work they do on a daily basis for the welfare of the residents of Washington Township.

Rotary veteran breakfast

I was pleased to attend the Rotary Club’s breakfast event for veterans on Jan. 13. This wonderful initiative was created to show appreciation for the veterans of our town. I am always happy to attend events such as these, where I get to show my gratitude for their service to our country. It is important to acknowledge their valor and sacrifice to our nation every day, not just on Veterans Day. I would like to thank the President of the Rotary Club Randee Davidson, along with the rest of the Rotary, for hosting this event and treating all of the tremendous veterans to breakfast at Applebee’s. I am proud to support events that show appreciation for our courageous veterans.

Shop Washington Township Launch Party
Republic Bank, our sponsor for the Shop Washington Township Program, will be hosting a Launch Party on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m., where we will officially present the participating businesses and the program. This event will take place at the Washington Township Republic Bank, located at 401 Ganttown Road, Sewell. If you are a Washington Township business interested in joining the program, please contact my Administrative Assistant Alicia Rotella at arotella@twp.washington.nj.us, or call (856) 589–0575. She will be happy to answer any questions you may have about how the program works and how to sign up.

Also, all residents will be receiving their Washington Township calendars in the mail within the next two weeks. These calendars will have a Shop Washington Township card attached, along with the instructions on the back cover of the calendar. Residents are also welcome to pick up a card at any of the departments in the Municipal Building. Most importantly, don’t forget to register your cards online before shopping! The amount of participating businesses continues to grow every day. I am happy to report a new total of 22 businesses participating in the program. Thank you to all of our participating businesses. Also, a huge thank you to Republic Bank for being our sponsor and hosting this exciting Launch Party. We hope to see you all out there!
