Do Something: Weekend fun happening in and around Burlington County

After being trapped inside this week, take an opportunity to enjoy local parks and events

It may be cold outside, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to do around the region this weekend. Check out what events and activities are taking place.

In Burlington County

· Join the Women’s Nature Club on a walk at Crustal Lake Park Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. These programs are designed for women who enjoy nature walks. These discussions will cover topics ranging from the natural history of Burlington County parks to the conservation of our wildlife and everything in between. Appropriate for teens and up. Club meets again on February 2. Register online.

· Join a naturalist for an interpretive hike through the varied habitats of Rancocas Nature Center on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 1:30 p.m. It’s a great way to become familiar with the well-maintained trails. The pace is easy and suitable for adults and interested teenagers. Register by calling 609–261–2495. Program repeats on the first Sunday of each month.

Around South Jersey

· Camden County’s Winterfest continues this weekend at Jack Curtis Stadium in Cooper River Park. The county’s outdoor ice skating rink will be open on Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 5 to 12, seniors and veterans. Kids 4 and under are admitted for free. Skate rental is an additional $4. For more information, click here.

· Kotoricon 2018 will take over the Dr. Ross Beitzel Art Gallery at Rowan College of Gloucester County this weekend, The convention will be open from 4:30 p.m. on Friday until 9 p.m. on Saturday. This anime convention features panels, performances, dealers, artists, and a charity auction. This year’s theme is love and romance. Tickets are $33 per person and must be purchased online. At the Jersey Shore

· Saturday is the last chance for guests to check out Historic Smithville’s Holiday Light Show. The light show will be open on Saturday from dark to 8:30 p.m. and will take place at Lake Meone at Historic Smithville. The show includes more than 120 Christmas trees cand more than 50,000 Christmas lights, floating on Lake Meone. An orchestrated show of lights and music is played during the event. In Philadelphia

· The Villanova University men’s basketball team has a big game on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center against Marquette University at 8 p.m. Prior to the game, Xfinity Live at the South Philadelphia sports complex will host a pre-game party where fans will have a chance to meet some of the players.The party begins at 5:30 p.m., with the Wildcat Walk beginning at 6 p.m. The event will also include visits from the Villanova cheerleaders and Will D.
