The Cougars defeated Clearview, 58–42, in the first round of the South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament on Dec. 23.
Cherry Hill High School East girls basketball got off to a good start in the annual South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament last Saturday. The Cougars went on the road and defeated Clearview Regional High School, 58–42, to advance to the tournament’s second round.
Cherry Hill East got a team-leading 20 points from Kiara Bell in the win. The Cougars trailed, 24–18, at halftime, before going on a tear in the third quarter, outscoring the Pioneers, 21–4, in the period. Yanelli Villegas scored 14 points and Maya Drayton chipped in 12.
The Cougars will take on Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in the second round of the SJIBT. The game is currently scheduled for Jan. 27 at Bishop Eustace at 1 p.m.
