Voorhees police assist those in need

Three local families were picked for the department’s 2017 Holiday Fundraiser.

The following is information from the Voorhees Township Police Department:

The Voorhees Police Department is currently picking our families to help for the Holiday season. Every year the department chooses two to four families who have encountered financial difficulties or have been stricken by illness and need help making this holiday season a memorable one. With contributions from local businesses and residents, the department shops, wraps and deliver gifts and food to the chosen families. As always, the department couldn’t do it without the community’s continued support and generosity.

The first family includes a single mom with three kids. She is dealing with health issues, which make it difficult to keep a job.

The second family includes a mother and father with three small children.

The third family includes three children who were recently orphaned after losing both parents in a matter of months. They have been blessed after being given a home by a neighbor who is petitioning the courts for guardianship of the three children. There is a 13-year-old girl, 15-year-old boy and an 18-year old-girl with special needs.

The department may be able to take one more family. So, please send requests as soon as possible.
