Virtua honored as BCIT’s 2017 Business Partner of the Year

RCBC and BCIT partnered this year to offer two new innovative programs to Burlington County high school and adult learners

The Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT), Medford Campus l hosted the Annual Fall Program Advisory Committee Dinner on Dec. 5, where Virtua was named the 2017 BCIT Business Partner of the Year. RCBC and BCIT partnered this year to offer two new innovative programs to Burlington County high school and adult learners.

Virtua and BCIT have collaborated over the past few years to enhance training opportunities and programs in the allied health careers for Burlington County high schools and adult learners. As a partner, Virtua provides required clinical experiences for students in practical nursing, nurse assisting, and medical assisting. Virtua has also helped to facilitate and develop career pathways for students into BCIT’s adult dducation programs, as well as RCBC programs, as students pursue additional skills, certificates and degrees.

In addition to the conferral of the award, more than 200 attendees representing local businesses and industries met with district administrators and instructors to provide invaluable feedback on best career programs and curricula. Discussions focused on the past, present and future opportunities for the respective programs.

Program advisory committees provide invaluable guidance in identifying and expanding the use of new technologies, comparing career curriculum with current and future career competencies, skill proficiencies and advise on labor market needs and trends. The contributions and commitment of Program Advisory Committees are reflected in BCIT’s most recent graduating class, of which 78 percent pursued their education beyond high school. Inclusive of enrollment in post-secondary technical schools, colleges and universities and nursing schools, the class earned an aggregate of over $8 million in scholarships.

Committees are composed of well-informed, knowledgeable and dedicated students, parents, teachers and industry leaders who recognize and believe in adding value to educational pursuits of students at BCIT.
