Letter to the editor: Nancy Rocereto

Haddonfield resident Nancy Rocereto expresses gratitude to the stranger who found her car keys.

This season is always especially hectic with lists, errands and too much to do. I had an appointment, in addition to all the holiday busyness on Thursday, Dec.11 for an hour and a half in the morning on Haddon Ave. between Redman and Mt. Vernon Avenues.

Rushing to and from and late for my next stop, I pulled the handle on my car door — three times to no avail. I reached in my unzipped outer pocket in my purse for my keys including the automatic door opener — and there were none (Where I always carry them for my “keyless” car). I searched my coat pockets — empty, and panic set in: where could they be? I drove there so I know I had them, but where are they now?! And why don’t I keep that pocket zipped?!

There, lying on my card hood, neatly laid out….were my keys. Wow! Relief!…and gratitude.

For the Christmas angel who found my keys, wherever they were and matched up the car fob to mine — Thank you.

For having my keys and my car in your possession and doing the right thing — Thank you.

For the countless people who passed my car with the keys available for taking and left them alone — Thank you.

For the integrity, kindness and values involved, thank you, Merry Christmas, and God bless you. It was definitely my Christmas gift and deeply appreciated.
