The holiday program allowed families in need this holiday season to shop for gifts with officers at the Marlton Target.
The Evesham Township Police Department has announced the completion of another successful year for the department’s holiday “Shop with a Cop” program.
Dec. 9 marked the department’s fourth year hosting the event, which allowed for 72 children from 27 different families in need this holiday season to shop for gifts with officers at the Marlton Target.
According to the department, 52 ETPD officers and 11 ETPD explorers volunteered their time to help with the event.
Police say the families involved had a great time with the event as they shopped for gifts, ate lunch, wrapped presents and even got to meet with Santa Claus as he stopped by for a visit.
“It was an amazing morning at the Marlton Target,” said ETPD officials in a release through the department’s Facebook page. “Thank you to the staff at Target for accommodating our event. The families, as well as the officers involved, made memories to last a lifetime. It is an honor for our members to be able to give back to the community we serve.”
The department is also offering its thanks to the non-profit Evesham Police Foundation for once again providing funding for this year’s 2017 Shop with a Cop program.
The Evesham Township Police Foundation has provided material and financial aid for department since 2015. Donations to the IRS recognized nonprofit organization are fully tax deductible.
