Holiday celebrations to take place throughout the region

Tons of holiday events are taking place across the region this weekend with Hanukkah beginning in less than a week and Christmas a little more than two weeks away. Find a holiday happening for you and your family to enjoy this weekend in today’s Do Something.

In Mullica Hill

  • For the first time in approximately 10 years, Clearview Regional High School will return to the stage to present a fall play, a performance that intends to uphold the high standards of the renowned spring musical. This year, travel with Ebenezer Scrooge through the past, present and future of Christmas in the classic tale of “A Christmas Carol,” where both high school and middle school students will be on the stage together in a performance of song and theatrics. Show times will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, as well as 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tickets may be purchased online, at www.a-christmas-carol.ticketleap.com,for $10 general admission, as well as $15 for premium, on-stage seating. Tickets will be sold for $12 at the door if seating is available.
  • Take a tour through local homes, churches and historic buildings during the annual Christmas House Tour on Main Street, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Participating stores along Main Street will offer open house specials, with live music, entertainment and visits with Santa throughout the day. Around South Jersey

  • The James G. Atkinson Old Stone House Village will be decked out for the holidays on Saturday as the Washington Township Historical Commission hosts The Magic of Christmas. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the village, 208 Egg Harbor Road, in Sewell. The event will include Christmas music, readings of the Polar Express, a tree lighting ceremony and bake sale. Kids can also mail a letter to Santa at the event.   • Community members can also get into the Christmas spirit in Mt. Laurel, as Fellowship Community Church hosts the second weekend of Living Nativity. The Living Nativity will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Guests can walk through 13 indoor and outdoor scenes depicting the story of Christmas. The tour finishes in the gym, where cookies and hot chocolate will be available. The nativity is free to attend. For more information, visit www.livingnativity.org.
  • ChildrenSong will host its main holiday concert on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 401 N. Kings Highway in Cherry Hill. ChildrenSong’s holiday concerts celebrate the season and spread the joy of holiday singing. ChildrenSong’s concert programs include a sing-along portion at the end of every program. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Children 14 and under are admitted for free. Tickets are available at the door. Visit www.childrensong.org for more information.
  • Support Cherry Hill Youth Cheerleading and meet Santa Claus at the same time on Saturday. CHYC is hosting Breakfast with Santa at the Applebee’s in Cherry Hill from 8 to 10 a.m. Guests can enjoy pictures with Santa, games, baskets and raffles. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids. Children 2 and under are admitted for free. Proceeds will support Cherry Hill Youth Cheerleading.

At the Jersey Shore

  • A holiday tradition returns to Wildwood this weekend as the Wildwoods Family Holiday Celebration takes place at the Wildwoods Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Families can enjoy holiday-themed crafters, photos with Santa, entertainment and more. A tree lighting will be held at 4:30 p.m. to cap off the day. The event is free to attend.   • The holidays will arrive in Ventnor City on Saturday, as Ventnor will host its annual Holiday Parade. The parade kicks off at 5 p.m. on Ventnor Avenue and includes more than 60 units and three marching bands. The parade will end at the firehouse at New Haven Avenue, where Santa will greet children. In Philadelphia

  • Runners will converge on Manayunk Saturday morning for the fourth annual Rudolph Run. The run begins at 9 a.m. at Philadelphia Runner on Main Street with check in beginning at 8:15 a.m. The run will traverse three miles along the Manayunk Canal. Holiday attire, including lights, reindeer antlers, red noses, ugly Christmas sweaters and more are encouraged. The only cost to join the run is the donation of a canned or non-perishable food item to the North Light Community Center’s food cupboard. In exchange for each donation, participants will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a gift basket filled with items and gift cards from local Manayunk businesses.   • The Gershman Y will host its 15th annual Latkepalooza on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. The celebration of the potato pancake will feature a selection of latkes with diverse flavors from Philadelphia’s top restaurants, local entertainment and hands-on activities. This year’s event features a tasting menu, with each general admission featuring one latke ticket per vendor. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for kids 2 to 12.
