Marlton resident and GEICO associate wins 2017 GEICO Volunteer Service Award

Jaclyn Veasy of Marlton, a New Jersey-based personal injury protection adjuster, has earned the 2017 GEICO Volunteer Service Award.

GEICO Senior Vice President Seth Ingall honors associate Jaclyn Veasy as the company’s 2017 GEICO Corporate Volunteer Service Award winner.

Jaclyn Veasy, a New Jersey-based personal injury protection adjuster, has earned the 2017 GEICO Volunteer Service Award, which she accepted recently at GEICO headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Veasy, who began working at GEICO in January 2014, said volunteering has been a gateway to learn about her community and meet new people, but, most importantly, it has given her the opportunity to support those most in need of a helping hand.

As the development chair for Relay for Life of Marlton, Veasy is charged with leading the committee that plans and stages this annual American Cancer Society fundraising and awareness event.

“I like to support people who are going through difficult times and also to celebrate and inspire people, especially cancer survivors,” Veasy said. “We need to never stop fighting cancer. Anything we can do in every community to teach people and fight this disease is important.”

Veasy also serves as vice chair of the Evesham Township Democratic Club, for which she plans all the group’s social and service activities, and is an active member of her church, St. Joan of Arc Catholic, where her many duties include helping to plan a weekly mass for children.

At work, Veasy’s positive outlook and knowledge have made her the go-to person in her department.

“We call Jackie ‘the mayor’ because everyone knows who she is,” said Veasy’s supervisor, Amie Bart. “Everyone knows her because she knows her job, and people know her because she is such a friendly and helpful person.”

A lifelong resident of Marlton, Veasy comes from a tight-knit family that includes her parents, her brother and sister-in-law (who is also a GEICO employee), two nieces and a sister, who has become Veasy’s traveling companion. The two recently returned from a trip to Italy.

Each year, GEICO honors a full-time associate who best epitomizes the spirit of volunteer service in his or her community with the GEICO Volunteer Service Award. GEICO associates are invited to nominate co-workers who are active in educational, charitable, civic and/or public service organizations.

Winners — who are selected by a committee — receive a $500 cash award for themselves and a $1,000 contribution made to a nonprofit organization of their choosing. Veasy selected the American Cancer Society. In addition, winners, and an immediate family member, are treated to a fun-filled weekend in Washington, D.C.

GEICO Senior Vice President Seth Ingall presented Veasy with her award.

“Jaclyn epitomizes the spirit of so many of our associates by balancing her daily responsibilities with community service,” Ingall said. “We are pleased that our associates freely give their time, money and other resources to myriad worthy causes.”
