Letters from the Library

Medford Library offers a variety of winter activities for all ages

The winter holidays are upon us! Hanukkah has begun, and Christmas will be here soon. There is so much to do and so little time. Shopping for gifts, planning meals, visiting with family and friends. Busy, busy, busy! So, what are we doing at the library?

Draw Live with Dragonwhaler continues on Dec. 14th and 29th. This program introduces children ages 6 and up to new techniques and methods to create their own artwork. Bring your imagination! Both sessions begin at 6:30 p.m.

Muffy, the delightful Pug-mix, will be returning for Paws to Read on Dec. 12th between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to hear more stories read by the children. Be sure to sign up for a time if you would like to read to Muffy.

The week of Dec. 18th to 22nd there will be a Snowman Make -n- Take all day, every day. Crafting supplies will be provided to create your own variation of this winter character. This is a fun activity for children of all ages and an opportunity for families to spend time making something together.

Are you all thumbs when it comes to wrapping all those holiday gifts? The library can help. Stop by on Dec. 18th at 6:00 p.m. to learn some tips and tricks to make gift-wrapping easier, neater, and less stressful. Paper, tape, and ribbon will be provided, but there is a two-package limit. For those of you who procrastinate, this workshop will be repeated on Dec. 23rd at 1:00 p.m.

What can you do with the children during Winter Break when school is closed? Bring them to the library of course! On Dec 27th there will be two sessions of Abrakadoodle, the popular art program where children explore their creativity. At 2:00 p.m. we will be welcoming children, ages 2 to 6, and at 3:00 p.m. we will host children ages 7 to 12.

On Dec. 29th, there will be two sessions of Mad Science. Smoke and Bubbles for the 3 to 5-year olds is at 2:00 p.m., and Dry Ice-capades for those 6 to 12 years old. Both really “cool” workshops involve age-appropriate dry ice activities guaranteed to surprise and delight
