WTHS DECA Club to host first annual Holiday Vendor Fair Dec. 9

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Washington Township Senior Center

Local vendors from the Washington Township community will be the invited guests of the Washington Township High School DECA Club during the club’s first annual Holiday Vendor Fair on Saturday, Dec. 9. The event is being hosted at the Washington Township Senior Center, located at 315 Greentree Road, Sewell, from 9 a.m. to noon.

In addition to showcasing some 20 local businesses, the DECA students will be hosting a variety of fundraising events, including pictures with Santa and a bake sale. The students also will be manning a technology corner and offering free help with email and social media to visitors at the fair who may need some assistance using technology.

The event itself will be chronicled in a paper that is being prepared by WTHS juniors Michael McEntee and Chad Castorina and seniors Christina Franks and Kate Merrill. The paper will be submitted at the DECA state conference and will provide an overview of how the group promotes and supports local entrepreneurs.

“This fair was brainstormed by my students as a way to support and grow community business,” WTHS business education teacher and DECA advisor Alexandria McBride said. “I am proud of their initiative and their interest in networking and promoting entrepreneurship.”

The vendor fair is free and open to the public. Vendors, including the Pampered Chef, Making a Scene with Lauren and the High School Student Store will be selling cash-and-carry items and also taking orders. For additional information, please contact McBride at amcbride@wtps.org, or DECA co-advisor Sara Simpson at ssimpson@wtps.org.
