On Dec. 3, a township resident called police saying she had witnessed two males looking for packages on neighbors’ front doors.
The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:
On Dec. 3 at 10:30 a.m., police say a township resident called the Evesham Township Police Department and stated that she had witnessed two males going door to door in the unit block of Harwood Road appearing to be looking for packages on neighbors’ front doors.
According to police, a responding ETPD officer located two males matching the description a few blocks away from where they were observed by the witness.
Police say one of the males was observed carrying a new package containing electrical equipment that was addressed to a home that was not his on Harwood Road.
While speaking with officers, police say one of the males attempted to discard a hypodermic needle into the front yard of a home.
Arrested:
A male, age 27, of Marlton, was charged with fourth-degree receiving stolen property and a disorderly person’s offense for possession of a hypodermic needle. He was released on his own recognizance.
According to the ETPD, the department commonly sees an increase in thefts of delivered packages during the holiday season.
ETPD increases neighborhood patrols during the holiday season but asks residents to be vigilant and report all suspicious activity.
According to police, failing to report suspicious activity often leads criminals to believe that they can operate freely in the township’s neighborhoods.
With a partnership between police and residents, ETPD ask the community to together to deter crime in the township.
