The Washington Township Board of Education recognized Hurffville Elementary School fifth-graders and teachers for their creation of an interactive Holocaust Museum for Children, an age-appropriate learning environment of the historic events during that time period. Also, Washington Township Green Team earns first-ever bronze certification from Sustainable Jersey, recognizing the community’s efforts in creating a more sustainable environment environmentally, economically and socially. Board of Education recognizes fifth-grade Holocaust Museum for Children

Fifth-grade students from Hurffville Elementary School shared their lesson on determination, integrity, empathy and compassion through an interactive, creative Holocaust Museum for Children at last week’s Board of Education meeting. According to Hurffville fifth-grade teacher Jackie Tiger-Williams, alongside co-teacher Matt Murray, the idea for the museum formed when research on the historic events was deemed too mature for the 10- and 11-year-old students.

Sustainable Township: Green Team receives first Sustainable Jersey certification

Washington Township’s efforts to create a sustainable community environmentally, economically and socially have earned the municipality its first bronze-level certification with Sustainable Jersey, a nonprofit organization that supports the pursuit of sustainable programs within local regions. Washington Township is one of 208 New Jersey towns to achieve certification this year, with a total of 443 municipalities registered to become certified in the future.

WTHS inducts 16 graduates in Sports Hall of Fame

The Washington Township High School Sports Hall of Fame had its every-three-years induction ceremony and dinner on Saturday, Nov. 25, at Wedgwood Country Club. Sixteen new members were inducted.
